Silver-mounted Middle-eastern Shamshir circa 19th century, with fancy worked scabbard and hilt and signed in Arabic characters on back of scabbard. This sword measures 35-1/2” from tip to tip. Blade is approx. 30” measuring 1 and nearly ¼” at its widest, tapering from hilt to point. The blade is forged but there is not a watered pattern evident, however there seems to be grain in the steel. The scabbard is of nicely hammered and embossed in high relief and shows a high degree of quality with stylized Middle-eastern motifs, worked both front and back and on top. Scabbard also retains its original hangars. The hilt is also nicely worked with scrolls, rosettes, and is matching to the scabbard and blade. The condition is very good and the silver is exceptionally good with sharpness to the decoration and no evidence of rubbing or polishing and a nice overall patina. Fresh to the auction block from an old collection. Est: $2,000 - $4,000
