Silver plated brass trumpet by Conn, the famous horn instrument maker. The serial number is 142363 which was made in 1915, according to the company web site. Engraved with floral patterns. On the top of the horn is hand engraved "New Wonder/ made by/ C.G. Conn/ Elkhart/ Ind." Conn began making trumpets in 1876. Louis Armstrong may have played a similar Conn about the time this was made. After 1932, he used other brands such as Selmer (now part of the Conn family), including custom made trumpets. One is on display in the Jazz Museum in Now Orleans at the old Mint building. This piece has a bit or repairable crinkling in the horn end. Mother of pearl tops to the three chambers. A classic, worthy of any collection.
