Shah Jahan (AH 1037-1068 /1628-1658 AD), Fathabad (Darur) Mint, Silver Rupee, AH 104X/4 RY, Obv: Arabic legend The Kalima Shahada at the top in two lines, zarb Fathabad & sana Hijri, Rev: Persian legend 'saheb e qiran sani', Shihab ud din Muhammad Shahjahan Badshah Ghazi',11.34g, 21.90mm, (Unlisted in KM), test marks, beautiful motifs, about extremely fine, Extremely Rare.
Note: Deccan had always been a matter of distress for the Mughals. Treaties were made and breached soon forcing the emperors to act and it took several campaigns for the Mughals to assume control over the region. The first place to be annexed was Darur and it was renamed Fatehabad. Darur was a town of strategic importance situated on a trade route that traversed the Balagat hills towards Telangana. The secure fort at Darur on top of a ridge was built by Kisvar Khan Lari, in 1567 AD a commander at Ali Adil Shah of Bijapur.
