Arthur Ashe's silver plate from Missouri newspaper ''The St. Louis Argus.'' Ashe transferred to Sumner High in St. Louis for greater opportunities in tennis. ''The St. Louis Argus'' publication was founded by an African American family in 1912 for a black audience and remains the city's oldest black business. Beautiful silver plate features a gadrooned rim and openwork band, with intricate floriated design surrounding the engraving at the center: ''Arthur Ashe / 1960 / St. Louis Argus''. Measures 12.25'' in diameter and weighs 15 ounces. Rubbing, tarnishing and discoloration, else near fine. With an LOA from Arthur Ashe's widow.
