c1882. "Silver Cliff looking South" printed at bottom. Purple stamp for "Charles E. Emery, Portrait and Landscape Photographer, Silver Cliff, Colo." on reverse. Note on back that "The church, I guess was Presbyterian, was where I married." Some discoloration. Edge issues that do not affect the photos. Contrast is sharp and clear! "Charles Emery was an early photographer in Canon City. He was born in Sweden in 1859, emigrating to the United States in 1867. He learned photography from his adoptive father, A.G. Emery, who had a studio in Silver Cliff. He began his career in Silver Cliff before moving to Canon City and opening a shop at 510 Main Street in 1885. On August 14, 1886, an ad was placed in the Canon City Record by Emery listing images for sale. The 129 images were Views of Rocky Mountain Scenery which included Canon City, Manitou Springs, and Silver Cliff among others." [Royal Gorge Regional Museum].
