Floral motifs with a flock of birds
Fine handicraft

Bamboo mounting
Dimensions: 189 x 39 cm (height x width)
This fine silk embroidery on silk is a work of the Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) and was made around 1900. The wall hanging has a champagne coloured ground on which a flock of birds can be seen at the top. The bird’s attention is directed to the shrubs and flowers beneath them. The fine handicraft shows floral ornaments in harmonious colours. Cream coloured chrysanthemums, a symbol of long life and a butterfly in the lush branches can also be discovered. Through bamboo wall hanging can be mounted and invites you to marvel and view.
The silk embroidery is in visually attractive condition with signs of age and wear. Loss of material, lateral cracks and repairs are visible, but do not reduce the fine hand work. The height measures 189 cm and the width 39 cm. (lvp)
