Set of 2 modernist Egyptian blue  bowls, both signed on the bottom. The larger bowl ( 4 1/2" D ) is signed Lachenal. The smaller bowl or cup has lettering on the bottom that appears to read "FRANCE". It is similar to the larger & we have attributed it to the Lachenal French studio as well. Lachenal French Pottery was first produced in the late 19thc by Edmond Lacheral. In 1911, his son Raoul established his own pottery works. These bowls are from this time ( 1911-1950's ). Lachenal pottery is known for for simple lines, bold color, craquelure & organic texture. ** The larger bowl has only minor rough spots around the edge of the lip. The smaller bowl/ cup ( 2 3/4" D ) had previously been broken in 2 places & repaired. The repair on this one is very visible, but still makes a nice collectible. The reserve price reflects this damage.
