Harold Bell Wright signed first edition of ''The Man Who Went Away.'' Harper & Brothers Publishers: New York: 1942. Two years before his death, the American preacher-turned author inscribes the front free endpaper from his estate: ''Dear Nan Wood / with many happy memories. [nickname] Bungy / Harold Bell Wright / Quiet Hills Farm / Aug 1942''. Harold was one of the bestselling authors of all time; his books were as beloved by the public and Hollywood as they were lambasted by critics. Novel runs 309pp. and measures 5.75'' x 8.5'', bound in red cloth boards. Cocked very slightly, light shelf wear and toning to interior, else near fine. Toning and chipping to unclipped $2.00 dustjacket, very good condition.
