Diana the Hunter, also known as Diana Nemorensis and Artemis. She was worshipped by many as the goddess of hunt, animals, woodland and the moon. In Capua and in Aricia, localities near Rome, there are still shrines dedicated to her. Her shrine in Aricia was on the shores of them lake Nemi. For that reason, she was named Diana Nemorensis-Diana of the Woods. This sculpture depicts the beloved goddess with her iconic crossbow, as she draws back on the arrow. She holds her perfect hunter's form. Her legs are firmly locked and her body forms a line as she locks her eyes on her target. Her sword is slung around her hip. Throughout time Diana has become a popular feminist figure because of her beauty, strength, and chasty. 100% handmade bronze, this brown patina sculpture was cast using the "Lost Wax Method" and mounted on a black marble base and head arms are made from 'faux' bone and is signed Preiss..
