This Is A Wall Relief Of Darius I Known As Darius The Great (550 — 486 Bce). He Was The Third Persian "King Of Kings" (Emperor) Of The Achaemenid Empire. Darius Held The Empire At Its Peak, Then Including Egypt, Balochistan, And Parts Of Greece. The Decay And Eventual Downfall Of The Empire Commenced With His Death And The Ascension Of His Son, Xerxes I. Darius Organized The Empire- Coordinated A New Uniform Monetary System, Made Aramaic The Official Language Of The Empire And Initiated Construction Projects Throughout The Empire, Focusing On Susa, Pasargadae, Persepolis, Babylon, And Egypt. He Is Seated At A Throne Holding A Sceptre Which Is A Symbolic Ornamental Rod Or Wand Borne In The Hand By A Ruling Monarch As An Item Of Royal Or Imperial Insignia. Above His Head Is The Very Ancient Symbol Called The "Winged Sun Of Thebes". It'S Associated With Divinity, Royalty And Power In The Ancient Near East Of Eygpt, Mesopotamia, Anatolia And Persia. It Can Also Be The Manifestation Of Horus; One Of The Oldest And Most Significant Deities In The Ancient Egyptian Religion, Who Was Worshipped From At Least The Late Predynastic Period Through To Greco-Roman Times. Horus Took This Winged Falcon Form And Was Victorious When Battling For Unification Against Seth (Another Ancient Deity). It Was Believed That An Emperor Was Horus Reincarnated In Life And Osiris In Death, Where He Was United With The Rest Of The Gods. This Sculpture Was Cast Using The Archaic Lost-Was Methods And Finshed With A Brown Patina Stain. It'S Mounted Upon A Black Marble Base With The Artist Milo signature. Bronze Dimensions: Height 8 X Width 4 inches. Weight: 4 Lbs.
