This is an example of a custom engraved and silver plated Single Action Army revolver engraved by David M. Williams of Godwin, North Carolina. The revolver features full coverage engraving with floral scroll designs with a punch dot background on most surfaces including the hammer sides. In addition the grip straps have a diamond pattern with "DAVID M. WILLIAMS / GODWIN - N.C." on the butt, an Indian village on the right rear of the frame, an Indian scout on the left rear, a buffalo head on the loading gate and a bear in a wooded scene on the recoil shield. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address in a panel and "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45" in a panel on the left side. The remaining markings have been replaced with the engraving. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame and on the left side of the grip straps under the grip. The revolver is completely finished in silver with niter blue cylinder pin, release button, screw heads and trigger. Fitted with two piece ivory grips with an eagle, shield motif relief carved on the right panel and silver Colt medallions.
