Signed CDV of U.S. First Colored Artillery Officer,<p>Samuel H. Jordan, signed on front. Jordan was mustered in as a 2nd Lieut. in the 1st U.S. Colored Artillery (Heavy). The 1st U.S.C.A.H. was formed on Christmas Eve, 1863 in Knoxville, TN, but not mustered in until Feb. of the following year. The unit saw most of its action in that region, E. Tennessee, N. Alabama, S.W. Virginia, and W. North Carolina, mustering out in March of 1866. Cdv is a bit light, bm T.M. Schleier, Nashville, Knoxville & Chattanooga. Includes Jordan's service records.<p>Scattered foxing, minor dampstain on top edge.
