Signed Baseball with Ruth, Cobb, Johnson PSA/DNA
1920's Multi-Signed Baseball with Ruth, Cobb, Johnson, Shocker & More. From a descendant of pitcher George "Hooks" Dauss, who shared a Detroit Tigers dugout with the great Ty Cobb for fifteen seasons, comes this absolutely remarkable sphere that reads like a "who's who" of early diamond legends. With so many historic names it's difficult to know where to begin, but an early "Babe" Ruth (note the quotation marks) seems the proper starting point. Sharing the side panel with him is the inimitable Ty Cobb, and fellow Cooperstonian Chuck Klein. Moving eastward, we encounter Harry Heilmann and Walter Johnson. Rounding out the Hall of Fame names are J. Frank Baker and George Sisler. Serious autograph connoisseurs may well be most impressed by a man whose greatness did not lead to a bronze plaque, and whose sudden tragic death in 1928 makes his among the toughest of Murderers Row-era Yanks. A massive sweet spot signature from Urban Shocker is simply the finest we've ever seen on a baseball. The other signers: "Pepper" Martin, Everett Scott, Carl Mays, Aaron Ward, "Joe" Bush, Bob Meusel, Nick Altrock, Bob Veach, Herman Pillette, Bob Shawkey, Wally Schang, Ken Williams and Dauss himself. The OAL (Johnson) baseball is lightly shellacked, giving the ball a pleasing tobacco shade and maintaining an average signature strength of 8/10. Certainly one of the most unique and appealing signed baseballs to reach the auction block in recent memory. LOA from PSA/DNA.
