Mailing envelope addressed in the hand of Sigmund Freud, 6.25 x 5, sent by Freud to "Frau Kata Levy, Budapest, Szalay ufoza 3.” Postmarked at Seefeld in Tirol on September 2, 1924. In fine condition, with an opening-related tear to the lower left corner.

Katherina or “Kata” Levy (1883–1969) was the wife of Dr. Lajos Levy, a member of the British Psycho-Analytical Society and one of founders of the Hungarian Psycho-Analytical Society, and the brother of Anton (Antal) von Freund-Toszeghy, a patient and friend of Sigmund Freud, who was an outstanding sponsor of the psychoanalytic movement. In 1918 Kata Levy began an analysis with Freud during his stay in Budapest, continuing it in Vienna in 1920. She then underwent psychoanalytic training with Sandor Ferenczi in Budapest and became a full member of the Hungarian Psychoanalytical Society in 1928. Levy was particularly interested in pedagogy and child analysis and, in 1936, she went to Vienna to attend the seminar on child analysis of Anna Freud, with whom she shared a lifelong friendship.
