Sigmund Freud Autograph Letter Signed
Sigmund Freud Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 5” x 7.75”, office letterhead engraved “Prof. Dr. Freud”, in German, January 22, 1929. Pioneer psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) wrote this letter in his office at Bergsasse 19 in Vienna, Austria. Addressed to Mrs. Emilie Mayer of Cernautr, Rumania, it reads in full: “Dear Madam, As interesting as your promised information may be, I cannot ask you to come out and visit me. I am forced by age and illness to restrict my activities in seeing people and also have to minimize my work. Would it not satisfy your need to look up my pupil and friend Dr. S. Ferenczi in Budapest? Very truly yours, Freud” Sandor Ferenczi (1873-1933), a Hungarian psychoanalyst, was a Freud friend and collaborator who, in 1909, accompanied him to Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, to advance the cause of psychoanalysis in the United States. The letter is double matted along with the original envelope, a 4” x 5” photograph showing Freud with his omnipresent cigar, and an engraved nameplate marked “Sigmund Freud 1856-1939.” The letter and framing materials are in fine condition.

Shipping: Framed - with Glass, Small (view shipping information)
