Prolific Hungarian-born composer (1887–1951). Two TLSs, both one page, 8.5 x 11, on personal letterhead, dated March 17, 1932. The first letter (signed “Rom”) asks his attorney, Ralph Blum, to retrieve items from his safety deposit box at the Bank of America In part, “In view of the fact that I am not returning to California in the near future, I think it is foolish to keep the two safe-deposit boxes I have…I am sure there is nothing of great importance in them, but if you will drop in there one day real soon and send me whatever there is in either of them, I would appreciate it very much….Things remain very much the same. Conditions in the theatre are terrible, so I have decided not to do anything until next fall. In the meantime, I am busy fighting for a new copy right bill in Washington, and also fighting for a new contract for the popular Song Writer of America.” The second notifies bank officials of Blum’s arrival and permission. In overall very good condition with intersecting horizontal and vertical folds crossing his name, light wrinkling, toning, and bank stampings. Accompanied by one Bank of America envelope with Romberg’s typed name.
