1905 - Sid Yates, a blacksmith at the Leonard Mine in Butte, Montana, created four candlesticks. Three of the sticks were made as gifts for his sons, and he kept the fourth--a personal stick with "Sid Yates" and "Butte Mont" stamped down the side. Two of the sticks made for his sons were "detachable models" because the hook and claw detach from the stick by pushing on the wide thumb lever and sliding off the assembly. This lot contains the 11" detachable model with a finely crafted pick and hammer in the handle. The spike is file-notched down the sides, and the whole stick is in excellent condition with impressive luster. On this particular model, the hook and claw assembly detaches from the spike end of the model. -62207
