Original ring box from Shreve, Treat & Eacret, 136 Geary Street, San Francisco. 48 x 44 x 21 mm; with a place for a 21 mm coin or ring. Latching top. Jewelers George C. Shreve and his nephew Samuel S. Shreve In 1852 opened the Shreve Jewelry Company at 110 Montgomery Street on the corner of Clay Street. The San Francisco Call reported on July 16, 1912: "The firm of Treat & Eacret, jewelers and silversmiths, will henceforward be known as Shreve, Treat & Eacret as a result of the purchase of a large portion of the stock of the company by George Shreve, who was formerly a member of the jewelry and silversmith establishment of Shreve & Co. at Post ' street and Grant avenue. For the last year Georgre Shreve has been out of the Shreve company, recently deciding to become allied with the Treat & Eacret establishment, whose store is at 136 Geary street."
