Showcase #4 (DC, 1956) CGC NM- 9.2 Off-white pages. Julius Schwartz ushered in the Silver Age with this book, reintroducing the Flash to a new generation of readers. The Scarlet Speedster sported a new costume and a new identity, which would ultimately bring about the concept of two worlds of heroes in the DC universe. Flash would appear three more times before making the jump to his own series, a pattern that practically every other new DC hero would follow throughout the 1960s. Showcase #4 is quite scarce in high grade due to its release in 1956, a period when the rate of attrition for comics was still very high. This is the second highest-graded by CGC to date, surpassed by only one NM 9.4 copy. Unlike many other Silver Age keys, there is serious doubt that many copies of Showcase #4 will surface in the coming years. Overstreet 2002 NM 9.4 value = $35,000.
