Jacket design by Paul Bacon.<BR><BR>Publisher's teal cloth-covered boards shelf-backed in yellow cloth with black titles. Top edge stained black. The book is in excellent condition, with minimal edge and corner wear. Text edges minimally toned. The price-clipped dust jacket shows light sunning to the spine, minor toning to the panels, but not the flaps, and minimal wear at the spine ends. Still, a very attractive near fine copy.<BR><BR>Jackson opened her <I>magnum opus</B></I> with these lines: "No live organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality; even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream. Hill House, not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within; it had stood so for eighty years and might stand for eighty more.
