Shemp Howard Lobby Card Collection
Shemp Howard Lobby Card Collection Shemp Howard, the oldest of the Howard brothers, of "Three Stooges" fame was the only Stooge to have his own successful career as an actor in other films not connect with the comedy trio. He had already made a name for himself with such stars as W. C. Fields before he joined the Stooges, and then left the Stooges when youngest brother Curly Howard took over to pursue his own interests, but did come back for several years after Curly's death. These are amazingly rare and beautifully preserved original lobby cards from some of Shemp's best solo efforts. It includes the murder-mystery musical "San Antonio Rose" (1941) with Eve Arden and Lon Chaney, Jr.; "The Gentleman Misbehaves" (1945); "One Exciting Week" (1946); "3 Of A Kind" (1944), in which Shemp played himself, and used some of his actual autobiographical adventures in the film, and the popular short "Mr. Noisy" (1946) in which Shemp starred in the title role. As a bonus the collection also includes the original color lobby card for "Stop Look and Laugh" (1960), starring ventriloquist Paul Winchell, and the famous Marquis Chimps (who are featured on the card). The movie had Winchell telling stores, with flashbacks of the original Stooges (Larry, Moe and Curly Joe Howard), from their short "Higher Than A Kite" (1943). A one-of-a-kind collection for Stooges, and especially Shemp Howard fans. (All Lobby Cards are 14"x11").
