NM1146 A token from the Macario Torres ranch of Willard, New Mexico, circa 1900.It is aluminum, and measures about 21mm in diameter. The obverse reads MACARIO / TORRES, / N.M. The reverse has a sheep's head. Macario Torres, who lived from 1854-1927, was a ranch owner. Workers would receive a token like this for every sheep sheared, and then could redeem them to be paid for their efforts.
