Sharps new model 1863 .52 caliber percussion carbine with all features as standard on this model serial number C8974. The left side of the breech shows E. A. W. inspector’s marks and there is the outline of two (2)cartouches beneath the saddle ring bar in the stock with other small visible inspection stamps. The metal surfaces show a gray to brown patina finish with some faint traces of blue and case hardening mixed in. There issome minor scattered erosion and light pinprick pitting. The barrel address and new model markings along with lock markings are all good and visible. The stock is darkened from oil and age and shows weathering,impressions, chips, general wear and use. The stock would be considered only fair to good. The original rear sight is retained and all small parts are included with primer feeder in the lock at nipple area. The bore is goodwith some aging.
