Sharps model 1874 single-shot rifle, serial #C54180, with Hartford address and pewter forend cap. Sold August 7th 1874 to R. H. Albison. Factory employee. Buttstock number 54868, which was sent to J. A. Payon, Sagaugache, Colorado Territory. .44 caliber. 30” standard weight barrel. This Western-found Sharps shows a grey patina with light to slightly heavy scattered pitting and erosion. Shows correct Lawrence marked rear sight. Well made brass front sight and base, in original dovetail. This front sight and base were hand-made frontier type. The forend shows original checkering and even wear. The buttstock good with some minor dings, mars, scratches. A likely possibility this Sharps started out in the East, headed West, and was repaired on the frontier with a newer buttstock. Est: $2,500 - $5,000
