Sharps model 1874 business rifle, serial #159582, 28” heavier than standard round barrel, blue and case hardened finish, standard wood stock, barrel marked ‘Old Reliable’ with “Cal. 45” at breech and“Business .45” stamped at left side of breech (.45-70). The barrel shows 80-90% original blue finish nicely toning and aging with just some beginning light erosion. The frame, lever, hammer, and lockplate show a lightgray patina with some traces of case hardening, but mostly drifting to silvery grey. The stocks are oil finished and are in good to very good condition with some slight wear on the forend, minor nicks and mars, acouple of small losses, but at least very good overall. The edges are sharp, markings crisp, original rear sight retained, bore bright and excellent. The gun weighs 10.5. And the barrel matches. A very nice Sharps in a serial number range that could have gone West as many Business rifles that did. Should be researched. Est: $2,500 - $5,000
