Sharps model 1853 slant breech percussion sporting rifle with slightly heavy 26" octagon barrel, .54 caliber, brass patchbox and mountings, doubleset triggers, in very good condition, serial #11021. Refer to Flayderman 5F-011. The rifle weightsapprox. 9lbs, and measures almost 1" across the muzzle. The rifle remains in good to very good condition showing approx. 30-50% blue on barrel mixing with a brown patina, strong traces of case hardening within silvery grey patina on action,good sharp markings, good edges. Good barrel address, some just beginning normal age, slight pitting in the lock area. The stocks are good with some mars, dings, scrapes, and even use from carry. The action is good, the bore is nearexcellent. These Sharps rifles saw use in the Civil War and then were used in the early Western movement. Est: $4,000 - $8,000
