Sharps model 1, .22 rimfire caliber, pepperbox derringer. Period or factory scroll-engraved, blue and silver finish, fancy floral hard-rubber grips, in English-style partition case. Serial number “5890”. The barrel shows 30 – 50% original blue, evenly drifting and toning, with slight wear at the edges and some just starting erosion and pin-prick pitting. The blue that remains is still very bright. The frame shows 90 – 95% original silver which is uncleaned and going to a darkish patina. The hard-rubber grips are very good + with just slight evidence of wear at the top edges. The markings are crisp, action good, very good overall. This American Sharps is contained within an English-style case with blue felt lining in partition-style with veneered burl wood exterior. The interior of the case is in good to very good condition. Just slight fraying, minor aging. The one-compartment cover is missing. A screwdriver and rod are included. The exterior of the case is very good with slight scratches, minor warping, normal aging. The engraving is of the period and somewhat sparse and shows lines and borders similar to the word of L. D. Nimschke. From the Tom Seymour Collection. Est.: $2,500 - $5,000.
