Sharps conversion of Civil War carbine to sporting of rifle in .45-70 caliber, 28” standard weight octagon barrel, serial number C46165 on tang and bottom of barrel with number 156871 lined out indicating factory conversion using cartridge era barrel. Note: it is possible to letter the 156871 number and it is late in the production where many arms were shipped West. The rifle remains in very good plus to near fine original condition showing 80% to 90% original blue thinning at the edges and just starting to age and tone naturally. The barrel shows old reliable and sharps markings with full caliber markings. The frame lever and butt plate show 40% to 60% case hardening drifting to a light gray with some areas of rainbow colors still showing. The barrel sights are both original and the front sight is a hooded type. The veneer style type tang sight is adjustable for windage and elevation and is an excellent quality reproduction probably by Tom Axtel. The wood is very good plus to near fine and is still a nice light original color. The stock shows a few minor scratches, mars and minor handling. The markings are sharp and the edges are crisp. The rifle is equipped with double set triggers. The action is tight and the bore is excellent. A good-looking sharps rifle that may letter to an interesting shipment location. Est.: $5,000-$10,000.
