Sharps breech-loading single-shot pistol, one of approx. 850 produced. Circa 1854-1857, .36 caliber percussion, 6-1/2” barrel, second type, original blue finish, nicely burled wood grips, serial #1859 beneath grips, which is higher than the highest number we’ve seen on this model. The pistol shows approx. 50-70% bright blue on barrel, drifting on the edges and top. The frame has drifted to grey with traces of blue. The stocks are very good with a few dings, mars, and even wear. The markings are good beneath the hammer, C. Sharps, etc, and also C. Sharps on left side of frame. The action is good, the primer feeding mechanism intact, the bore near excellent. A scarce Sharps pistol with a number that’s approx. double the amount that were produced and is an anomaly. From the Robert Petersen Collection. Est: $1,500 - $3,000
