Sharps and Hankins model 3a .32 rimfire pepperbox derringer fully and finely deluxe engraved, silver and gold plated, checkered ivory grips number 259. This elaborately engraved Sharps is one of the finest known having resided in old time Southern California collectors Sheurm Jones and Ken Fox collections until subsequently obtained by Tom Seymour in 1993. The derringer shows de-luxe factory or New York style scrolls with ropes, vines and Germanic scrolls attributable to L.D. Nimschke and his shop. The bbl's retain 90 - 95% original rich gold plate w/some slight loss and pin prick pitting and darkening in these minute areas were plating lifted mostly at muzzle and in the left rib. The frame shows 90 - 95% darkened amid toned original silver w/no cleaning what so ever and has turned almost blue. The hammer, release button, action cover and trigger show most original gold w/slight aging. The grips are near fine w/crisp checkering and mellow aging. The bbl address is sharp. The interior crisp, action working. Scarce knife blade extractor. This cataloger has known this particular Sharps 40 years as had Tom Seymour and we both felt it to be in the top few known to collectors in this model. Est. $6,000 - 12,000
