Sharps New Model .52 caliber breech-loading carbine with iron patch-box mounting. Serial #81726. The metal surfaces show faint traces of blue and case hardened finish within a grey brown patina. There is some scatterederosion and beginning pinprick pitting. Metal surfaces are generally good with good markings. The stocks are good with two cartouches beneath saddle ring still showing. Full inspection marks, some weathering andmarks around comb. Some dings and mars around buttstock. Also dings and mars around forend consistent with military issue and use. There has been a soldier’s identifying mark, two X’s and a hash mark, cut into the leftside of the buttstock. All original small parts and primer feeding mechanism present. Action good, bore good with some dirt and may clean to excellent. An above average Civil War Sharps which was invoiced to the USGovernment June 8th, 1863, right during the middle of the Civil War.
