Sharps New Model 1863 Rifle, .52 caliber percussion, 30” barrel, made for socket bayonet, blue and case hardened finish, iron patchbox, serial #30269. The rifle remains in very good plus original condition showing 75-85% original blue on barrel, some erosion and pinprick pitting just starting, good original markings, and original R.S. Lawrence marked rear sight. The action, lock, and lever show 20-30% case hardening drifting to grey with some light colors mixed in. The stocks are very good with three visible cartouches on left side, just above the trigger. The rear of the breech shows EPR inspector’s marks and there are other R inspection on the metal. There is an M.N.M. marking near the buttplate. The patchbox and buttplate show traces of case hardening drifting to silver. The action is good, the bore is bright and near excellent. The stock shows just minor scratches, minor imperfections, and a little bit of use. A key Civil War arm. Est: $3,000 - $6,000
