Sharps New Model 1863, .52 caliber military rifle, 30” barrel, mounted with stud for bayonet in fine to excellent original condition, serial #27390. The rifle shows approx. 90-95% original blue on the barrel just toning slightly with a couple of minute scratches, crisp Sharps Rifle Company address and sharp New Model 1863 marking at breech. One of approx. 1,000 made, refer Flayderman 5F-025. The action, frame, and lever show 50-70% case hardening drifting to light silver with areas of rainbow colors showing nicely. The frame shows some dried oil and erosion and pinprick pitting just starting. The stocks are near fine and show a CBG inspector’s mark on the rear of the forend at bottom near the lever. The buttstock shows no cartouche. The left side of the breech of barrel shows a “TWP” proof, the action shows an “M” proof. No other visible proofs. The patchbox and buttplate show 50-70% case hardening drifting to silvery grey with some rainbow colors. The small parts and screws show bright original blue. The original rear sight and small parts are all retained. The action is tight, the bore is bright and shows just some dirt and would clean to excellent. A very crisp Sharps
