Sharps New Model 1859 converted to .50-70 caliber for issuance during Indian war era. Serial number 52750. The carbine remains in original good to very good condition showing a gray to brown patina finish with considerable traces of blue and case hardening mixed in. The markings are good and all legible. The stocks are also good with some small losses around the butt plate, minor dings, mars, scratches, dents and just normal aging. The action is good and the bore is bright with some slight erosion in the breech area. The original sights, saddle ring and small parts are all retained. These .50-70 sharps are the subjects of new research placing them in the hands of frontier battalions of Texas Rangers and Buffalo soldiers. Gale Kennedy Historical West Collection.
