Sharps New Model 1859 breech loading military rifle. .52 caliber percussion, 30-1/2” barrel, secured to forend by three bands, serial #40059. The rifle remains in good to very good original condition showing a lightgrey patina finish with some faint traces of case hardening and blue where protected. The markings are sharp, edges, crisp. Metal surfaces show some scattered erosion and pinprick pitting. The primer mechanism isretained. Bore is very good plus and still bright. Stocks are good to very good with some minor dings, mars, scratches, no evidence of cartouches or inspector’s marks, just some oiling and even age but have beenwell cared for and a couple of minor marks and scrapes above the patchbox.
