Sharps Model 1878 Borchardt single shot concealed hammer rifle, barrel at breech is marked “cal 40 2 ½” and is also stamped on the top of the receiver “J. P. Lower, Denver Col” and a partial stamping of “J.P. Lowe . . . “on the top of the barrel at the breech; 26” round barrel, replaced rear ladder sight and hooded front sight, blue finish, wood stocks, #18372. This interesting rifle is in overall good to very good condition showingan overall plum brown patina on barrel with some scattered spots of erosion, receiver is overall grey with some erosion spots and some slight areas of original blue in protected areas near the trigger; bore is very good tofine, action is crisp, barrel address and “Old Reliable” markings are visible, wood stocks are overall good with scattered mars from carry and storage, checkered steel shotgun butt plate; fore stock was likely cut down from a rifle given the cleaning rod hole still present; the J.P. Lower markings appear real. Est.: $1,750-$3,500.
