Sharps Model 1878 Borchardt single shot Sporting rifle, .45 2-1/10” cal., 30” heavy octagon barrel, “J.P. Lower, Denver, Col” marked barrel, grey patina, wood stocks, checkered shotgun butt plate, vernier tangsight, Lawrence ladder rear sight and blade front sight, #17571. This gun is in overall very good condition showing an even grey patina on metal surfaces, overall very good bore, crisp action, very good markings, woodfore stock is fair with wear and old losses on each side at top edges; butt stock is overall good showing wear and scattered mars and scratches from carry and storage. A classic looking Borchardt with famous Western maker’s marks and period extended base to top of receiver, likely done by Lower, to support the vernier tang sight. Est.: $2,500-$3,500.
