Sharps Model 1874 Sporting rifle, .45 caliber, 2-7/8” cartridge, 30” heavy octagon Sharps “Old Reliable” Bridgeport address barrel, blue finish, double set triggers, wood stocks, Walter Cooper style front andrear sights, adjustable Vernier tang sight, #158912. This gun is in overall good condition showing traces of blue on barrel with scattered old nicks and mars from carry and use, silvery tone on receiver, goodaction with double set triggers working at time of description, somewhat rough bore, underside of barrel shows no serial number but does display the number 10, a separate number 1 and the initials “WC”; the buttstock is overall good, the forestock appears to be an old replacement, possibly at time of barrel addition and is good with an old repair to the rear left edge. Accompanying this lot is a copy of the Sharps CollectorReport of Spring 1999 containing an extensive article on Walter Cooper; also a note from the consignor that reports this rifle was shipped on October 6, 1876 as a .45 caliber business rifle to Kittredge & Co. of
