Sharps Model 1874 Meacham Conversion Single Shot Rifle, marked ''45-2-1/10'' (.45-70 Gov't), 30'' heavy octagon blue barrel marked ''Old Reliable Sharps Rifle Co. Bridgeport, Conn.''; case hardened frame, hammer, and lever marked ''C. Sharps' Pat/Oct. 5, 1852'' to right side lockplate; left side with standard 1848 patent date. Walnut buttstock is checkered at wrist; non-checkered forend with Schnauble top; standard military rear sight, with nickel steel Rocky Mountain type front sight. Rifle features standard Meacham made double set triggers, Meacham type hammer showing very slight variation from original early factory pattern, and Meacham's signature convex bottom rifle grooves. Condition is excellent retaining approx. 92%-95% slightly thinning and light toning blue to barrel assembly. Case hardened frame and lever with approx. 90% vivid slightly thinning tones. Left side frame screws with some aberrations to slots. Stocks remain in excellent condition with light!
crazing to original varnish and minor flattening to checks, as well as minor darkening at metal contact points. Action is crisp, set triggers function as designed, bore is bright. An excellent example of a desirable Sharps variation. Est.: $7,500-$10,000.
