Sharps Model 1853 sporting rifle in .52 caliber with 26” octagon barrel, double set triggers, iron patch box and mountings, serial number 11245. The rifle remains in good to very good original condition showing a patina finish with strong traces of blue and case hardening mixed in the brown. The stocks are good with numerous small scratches and a well-done repair to forend with a light re-varnish. The markings are good. The original rear sight is retained. The action is good and bore is very good. These Sharps rifles preceded the Civil War and were used in bleeding Kansas and carried by early pioneers headed West in the gold rush era.
