Sharps Model 1852 percussion Sporting Rifle with Sharps patent pellet primer, .36 cal., 26” octagon barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood stocks with iron patchbox, #8196. This gun is in overall very good condition showing a pleasing brown patina on the barrel and a silvery grey patina on the receiver with some slight hints of case color mixed with brown patina; the bore is good, the markings are clear and sharp and the action is crisp. The wood stocks are good overall with scattered nicks, mars and scratches from carry and storage with initials “P.G.” carved into the right side of the fore stock approx. 3” forward of the breech area; also two old small circular repairs to the bottom of the butt stock. A difficult Sharps Model to obtain in any condition as only 600 were made between 1853 and 1855. Est.: $2,000-$4,000.
