business rifle with 28" heavy octagon barrel chambered for 2 1/2" case. Marked J.P. Lower, Denver, Colo for the well known agent dealer and gunsmith. Rifle remains in good overall condition, the heavy barrel showing light cla\eaning withareas of blue present. Original sights intact, the barrel marked "Old Reliable", Sharps Rifle Co. Brig\dgeprot, Conn USA, dovetail sight plug cutting through Conn USA. The left side above fore stock is stamped CAL 40 2 1/2. Receiver retains a silver gray patina with light scattered pin prick pitting, marked Sharps Rifle Co. Bridgeport Conn over SN 20009 and Pat Dec 1876, the top stamped JP Lower Denver Col. The walnut fore stock remains in very good condition, showing no sanding butlikely revarnished, the rosewood stock with old doweled repair to wrist with light sanding and steel serrated butt plate. Action is smooth with a good bore. No FFL required.
