This rifle was actually shipped from the Sharps warehouse twice. The first time was to the National Rifle Association in New York City on April 21, 1875. The rifles were most likely on loan for match shooting and promotional purposes. They were returned December 22, 1876. The rifle was re-invoiced at the Bridgeport factory on August 13, 1877 to E.S. Harris of New York City. There are a few slight traces of gold on some of the metal parts of the rifle, and those are certainly a post-factory addition. With factory letter. Matching original serial numbers on inside forewood, on barrel, on bottom of barrel, and on upper tang of the reciever. Very interesting gun. S/N C54559
