<td width="100%">
This very rare piece appears to be made by Sydney Cooke, Bayonne City, NJ, April 26, 1870, #102.225. As described in the book, 300 Years of Kitchen Collectibles by Linda Campbell Franklin, Vol V, Pub, 2003, page 308 Mr. Cooke describes his invention thus: "The lid of the box is a doughnut-cutter, the bottom of the box is a corrugated cake-cutter, the raised graters are attached to the sides of the box, one for nutmegs and the other for lemons, etc. The grates being raised on the surface of the box prevent the holes of them being clogged. The jagger-iron or knife is attached to the front of the box." Official Gazette of the US Patent Office.
