<td width="100%">
We offer a French Sevres hot chocolate ensemble made in 1765 bearing the mark of the decorator "Courtice" (Reference:Chaffers' Handbook of Pottery and Porcelain). The set consists of 8 cups, each of which measures 3 inches high (7.5 cm) and across the tops measure 2.5 inches across (6.5 cm). Each cup sits in a fitted Sevres porcelain tray. All pieces are marked with the Sevres crossed Ls with the date letter M, and each piece bears the sign for the modeller or decorator, Courtice.
There must have been a chocolate pot that occupied the central space-this unfortunately is no longer part of the ensemble.
Condition: extremely pood with a couple of the handles supported by rivets and a place or two on the tray where there must have been slight touch ups.
Clearly a museum piece demonstrating the mastery of work done at this factory during the Louis XV period.
This is a genuine antique Sevres ensemble.
