Collection of Seventeen WWII Photos From the International Military Tribunal For The Far East. This famous trial was convened on May 3, 1946, and adjourned on November 12, 1948. Three types of crimes were being prosecuted against Japanese military leaders and political figures; Crimes against Peace, war crimes, and Crimes against Humanity. Twenty-five military and political leaders were charged with Crimes against peace, and over 300,000 were charged for the other offenses. This lot features seventeen 4.3" x 6" black and white photographs of the trial. Five of the seventeen photographs are signed by prominent and famous figures in the trial; included are: Kido Koichi, Lord Keeper of the Privy Seal; Suzuki Teiichi, President of the Cabinet Planning Board; Shimada Shigetaro, Naval Minister; Matsui Iwane, Commander of Shanghai Expeditionary Force (executed for his crimes); and, of course, General Tojo Hideki, Commander of the Kwantung Army and Prime Minister (executed for his crimes). The remaining pictures depict various stages of the trial. The pictures were obtained by n M.P. who was present at the trial. His military records and a photograph of him are also included to validate his location at the time of the trial. This fascinating lot is a treasure trove waiting to be fully researched.

The photograph, on average, are in fine condition; four of the seventeen exhibit some slight rubbing of the emulsion; two have hard folds which slightly separate the emulsion; two have small tears on the corners. Excellent lot!
