<B>Seven Ulysses S. Grant <I>Cartes de Visite.</B></I></B></I> Another exceptional lot of varying views of General Grant. Again, as in most photographs of Grant, he is wearing his Union officer's coat and a full beard. In one it appears that he has a rather severe case of "hat hair". This is an image we have not seen offered very often at auction. This sort of humanizing portrait reminds one of Abraham Lincoln and his troubled locks. Also offered is a fantastic standing shot of Grant, with one hand in his coat and the other thrust in his pocket, as he was oft to do when relaxing. All are in very fine or better condition; a lot of this quality of pictures is a rare find to be sure! Several have ink and or pencil notations on versos and rectos; light overall toning; several bear imprints from Brady / Anthony and C.D.
