An album containing 11 stock certificates, a 1918 US Mint receipt from the Carson City Mint for the Mazuma Hills MC, a map of the Underground Workings of the Seven Troughs Coalition MC dated 1916, measuring 18" x 40,” a 1908 Statement of Returns for the Mazuma Hills MC, issued by the Bank of Mazuma, and an Ore Settlement statement from the Darby Ore Reduction Company for the Mazuma Hills MC, dated 1911. Stock certificates are from the following mines: Seven Troughs Caesar Mining Company; Mazuma Hills Extension MC; Fine Gold Seven Troughs MC; Nevada Shamrock MC; Seven Troughs Monarch Mines Co.; Seven Troughs Coalition MC; Seven Troughs Trio Mining & Leasing Co.; Seven Troughs Industry MC; Eljax-Nevada GMC; Seven Troughs Golden Treasure MC; and Seven Troughs MC. The town of Seven Troughs began in 1906 after the discovery of gold the previous year. The name derives from a series of troughs placed by ranchers below some springs for watering stock and the spring emanated from a basalt dike that crossed the canyon at that point. The first ore shipments were made the last day of December 1907. A post office served the district from July 1907 through February 1918. Mazuma was a small mining camp in the hills near Lovelock that served the prospectors and mines around Seven Troughs. The town was completely washed away in 1912 by a flash flood in the Seven Troughs Range, killing at least 8 people and carrying objects miles down the alluvial fan [Ref: Carlson, p. 213]. Seven Troughs mines began to fail in the early teens and, like its sister city Mazuma, there is not much left to remember it by. Maish Collection. - Maish Collection -58967
