<B>Seven Georgia Slave Documents.</B></I> An excellent grouping of legal papers with slave content from the heyday of the "Peculiar Institution". Included are the following items:<BR><B>Manuscript document,</B></I> four pages, 7.75" x 10", Decatur County, Georgia, October 11, 1835. A probate settlement naming several slaves and referring to "<I>Pensacola in the Territory of Florida</B></I>". Fine condition.<BR><B>Manuscript petition and summons,</B></I> three pages inclusive, 7.75" x 12.25", Decatur County, Georgia, November 2, 1846. One George Clewis is accused of making off with a slave. Browning and splits, good condition.<BR><B>Manuscript receipt for two slaves,</B></I> one page with docketing, 7.75" x 5.25", n.p., likely Georgia, January 16, 1847. Two boys, Jim and Rob, were delivered to one Gilbert Longstreet Crisp. Small areas of loss along one fold. Very good condition. <BR><B>Manuscript Bill of Hire,</B></I> one page, 7.5" x 4.5", n.p., probably Georgia, December 27, 1851. Two young slave girls, Grace and Sarah, are hired out for $10. Fine condition.<BR><B>Manuscript copy of a will,</B></I> three pages, 7.75" x 12.5", Washington County, Georgia, May 19, 1854. Several slaves are bequests in this document. Stains, large area of paper loss on last page. Good condition.<BR><B> Manuscript will of Charles Head,</B></I> three pages with docketing, 7.5" x 13", Lumpkin County, Georgia, April 2, 1855. Among the bequests is a male slave. Expected browning, fine condition.<BR><B>Manuscript court order,</B></I> two pages, 7.5" x 9.5", Montgomery County, Georgia, December 15, 1860. A male slave is ordered sold to satisfy claims against one William J. Moseley. Browning and small splits.
