<td width="100%">
Lovely set of 6 late 18th Cty. English carved mahogany dining chairs, Ca. 1790-1800, with repadded and custom upholstered slip seats. The seats are done in a colorful polychrome floral damask fabric, featurings tulips and foliate scrolls in shades of red and green, the aprons bordered by swagged brass tacking. Dimensions are pretty standard for chairs of this period, and will work with a table of later date (seats are at a comfortable level for a later period dining table). They are approximately 20" wide at the seat front, and chair backs are in the range of 39". They have been gone over by my cabinetmaker, and all chair rails have been repaired for some worm damage, and all joints have been cleaned and reglued, so these are very usable and a large person is comfortable on them, without fear of coming apart or loose. They have a nice vintage patina on the wood's surface, and the backs are square in shape, with the vertical splats interrupted by small carved rosettes. There is some wear to the medial stretchers joining the legs.
